About Threipmuir Reservoir
Threipmuir Reservoir is approximately a mile south of Balerno in the Pentland Hills. Malleny Angling holds fishing rights on a defined stretch of the north bank, which the Pentland Hills Regional Park says is stocked with brown trout. The park lists day permits for visiting anglers for this stretch, but availability and the point of sale should be confirmed before travelling. Threipmuir Angling Association controls boat fishing and bank fishing from the south shore; a north-bank permit must not be assumed to cover these. The park publishes a north-bank season of 1 April to 30 September. Check the current permit, fishing method, season and exact access point with the relevant operator.
