About Broom Fisheries

The fishery occupies part of the Broom Farm Estate and offers several waters for pleasure and match fishing. Bruce's Acre, Queensberry Water and Wallace Lake are regularly used for major team and individual competitions, while Muirbeck operates as a specimen water for anglers holding the required angler number. The site also has a stocked tackle shop, toilets, camping and other accommodation. Published seasonal hours vary through the year, and the fishery closes during January and February.

Broom Fisheries venue rules

Fishing is normally available Wednesday to Sunday during the open season, with shorter hours in March and from November to December and longer days from April to October. Rods must not be left unattended, and fish over two ounces must be landed with a net rather than swung to hand. Pleasure anglers must follow the fishery's biosecurity rules, including its restriction on keepnets, while match events use the separate published match arrangements.
