About Loughbrickland Lake

Loughbrickland is included in the current DAERA South Down and Armagh group of Public Angling Estate fisheries. Anglers fishing the lake must hold both the appropriate rod licence and either a permit or day ticket, as the two documents serve different legal purposes. DAERA's published 2025 stocking figures record 1,000 brown trout being stocked at Loughbrickland during March, while its public-fishery regulations also cover pike and other coarse species. Loughbrickland Lake venue rules

A rod licence alone does not give permission to fish: a DAERA permit or day ticket is also required. Under the current Public Angling Estate catch rules, pike of 4kg or more must be returned alive and unharmed, while no more than one pike below 4kg may be retained per day. For other coarse species the general daily bag limit is four fish, and coarse fish over 25cm must be returned alive and unharmed. DAERA also publishes separate season, method and game-fish regulations that apply to its waters.
