About Lochter Fishery

Lochter Fishery near Oldmeldrum forms part of Lochter Activity Centre and provides three fly-fishing lochs covering about 14 acres, plus two bait-fishing ponds. The fly waters hold stocked rainbow trout from about 2lb to well into double figures and also contain a natural head of brown trout. The fishery opens seven days a week throughout the year, from 8am to dusk in summer and 8:30am to dusk in winter, and ordinary fishing does not normally need advance booking. Equipment can be hired and fly-fishing tuition arranged. The on-site fishery shop stocks tackle, flies and clothing, while the Bothy provides seating, free tea and coffee and access to food from the activity-centre restaurant.
