About Loch Arkaig
Loch Arkaig is a large, lightly fished Highland loch on the Achnacarry Estate near Spean Bridge. It supports wild brown and ferox trout together with specimen pike, while the River Arkaig also occasionally produces salmon. A road along the northern shore provides access to bank fishing and a slipway at the eastern end allows anglers to launch their own boats after paying the relevant fee. Fishing is by permit, with loch permits available through the honesty-box system at the jetty or online. The trout season runs from 15 March to 6 October, while pike fishing is available throughout the year. Fly fishing, spinning and deep-water trolling are permitted in the specified areas. The location is remote with limited mobile coverage, so anglers should read the official rules, carry appropriate safety equipment and arrive prepared.
