About Kielder Water

The reservoir's current programme is centred on rainbow trout and wild brown trout, with bait, fly, spinning and catch-and-release permits available during the fishing season. Bank fishing opens from 6am, while boat times and return deadlines depend on daylight and must be confirmed when booking. Permits can be bought online or from Kielder Waterside, with bank permits also sold at Tower Knowe during the main season. Boat hire must be reserved in advance and every angler needs a separate Environment Agency rod licence.
