About High Newton Reservoir

The roughly eleven-acre reservoir overlooks the Cartmel Valley, Coniston Fells and Morecambe Bay. Its exposed position can make early-season fishing demanding, but warmer winds often carry terrestrial insects onto the water and produce sustained rising fish. High Newton is open through the year under WADAA's current rules, with fishing permitted around daylight hours. It should not be treated as a normal public day-ticket venue, and anglers must check membership and permit requirements before visiting.
