About Spring Hill Trout Waters
Spring Hill Trout Waters occupies a wooded valley near Matfield and consists of clear, spring-fed fly-fishing waters. The Main Lake carries rainbow and brown trout, while the Spring and Brown ponds are reserved for brown trout. Insect life includes seasonal midge, caddis, sedge, mayfly and damsel hatches, giving opportunities for dry-fly fishing. Visits must be pre-booked and fishing is by fly only. The fishery normally opens from 8am until dark throughout the year, with a lodge, toilet, terminal tackle, rod hire, refreshments and tuition available on site.
