About Llandegfedd Lake

Llandegfedd is stocked regularly with rainbow trout and also supports native brown trout, while its coarse population includes bream, roach, dace, perch, eels and pike. Trout fishing is available from both bank and boat, with fly fishing and ledgered worm permitted in designated bank areas and fly fishing from boats. Coarse fishing is available through the main 1 March to 31 October fishing season from normal bank areas. Pike fishing uses separately controlled sessions and permits. Fishing permits can be booked online or obtained from the Visitor Centre.

Llandegfedd Lake venue rules

All anglers aged 13 and over need a valid rod fishing licence as well as the appropriate Llandegfedd permit. General spinning is prohibited; lures are restricted to authorised pike fishing. For standard pike sessions only lure or dead-bait fishing is allowed, with livebaiting and fly fishing for pike prohibited. A maximum of two rods may be used, and suitable large landing nets, unhooking mats and fish-care equipment are compulsory. Pike must be returned promptly and handled in accordance with the reservoir's published welfare requirements.
