About Cefn Mably Lakes

Cefn Mably Lakes describes an eight-lake complex situated between Cardiff and Newport, around ten minutes from Junction 28 of the M4. Two waters are operated as specimen carp lakes, while six other lakes are associated with the site's lakeside lodge accommodation. Fishing sessions are booked through the GoCatch app under the venue's 2026 tariff, with a mixture of shorter and multi-day carp sessions published for different waters. The Cardiff Angling Centre is also based on site, giving anglers access to a dedicated tackle shop alongside the fishery and accommodation facilities.

Cefn Mably Lakes venue rules

The current lake rules limit anglers to two rods and require suitable nets and padded mats or cradles for fish care. Fixed rigs are prohibited and rigs must be able to eject the lead when necessary; the venue states that leadcore is permitted. Micro-barbed hooks are required, rods must not be left unattended and nuts and bait boats are prohibited. Fish must be returned using a sling or collapsed net rather than carried by hand, and dogs are not permitted on Carp Lake or Lodge Lake.
