About Lanark Loch

Lanark Loch is a public park lake of about 20 acres beside the racecourse on the edge of Lanark. It has an important place in Scottish carp fishing, having received a substantial stocking of mirror carp during the early 1970s and later restocking by the Scottish Carp Group. Common and mirror carp share the loch with tench, roach, rudd, perch and pike. All fishing is catch and release. Day tickets must be obtained before fishing and do not permit overnight stays; night fishing is restricted to Scottish Carp Group members and Lanark season-ticket holders. Several public parking areas overlook the water, but vehicles must not be taken onto the loch-side paths.
