About Whetstone Gorse Fishery

Whetstone Gorse Fishery has two mature waters, Mallard Lake and Moorhen Pool. Mallard is the larger lake and holds carp, bream, roach, tench, perch, crucian carp and barbel, with several carp over 20lb and barbel regularly topping 6lb. Moorhen Pool is a smaller kidney-shaped water with a central island and stocks of common, mirror and ghost carp together with crucians, rudd and perch. The fishery provides parking and allows disabled anglers to drive to their pegs for loading and unloading where required.

Whetstone Gorse Fishery venue rules

Fishing is from dawn to dusk only, with no normal night fishing. Barbless hooks are compulsory with a maximum hook size of 8, and all leads and feeders must be free running or fitted so they can break free safely. Anglers must have access to a landing net and disgorger. Carp are not permitted in keepnets outside matches, keepnets have a 50lb maximum weight and baited rods must never be left unattended. Nuts, beans, bloodworm and joker are among the prohibited baits.
