About Merstone Lakes
Merstone Lakes is an Isle of Wight Freshwater Angling Company venue comprising three lakes within approximately 15.5 acres of countryside. Kingfisher is a mixed water of around 2.3 acres holding carp, ide, bream, roach, tench, perch, crucian carp and chub. Regular competitions are held on Kingfisher, although the club advises that pleasure fishing can remain available during its midweek fixtures. Minnow is a smaller mixed lake of approximately a quarter of an acre. It has been developed with disabled anglers in mind and contains carp, roach, perch and chub. Heron is the larger specimen-oriented water, covering approximately 3.5 acres and holding carp, tench, bream, perch and pike. Heron is described as members only, while access arrangements for the other lakes should be confirmed with IWFAC. Kingfisher and Minnow are currently restricted to fishing between dawn and dusk, while Heron permits longer sessions under the club rules. Guest tickets require advance contact and an accompanying member. Visitors should check match closures, lake availability, gate access and current fish-care rules before travelling. A suitable landing net and unhooking mat are required, and equipment must be disinfected before fishing.
