About Gwinear Fishery

The specimen lake dates from 1988 and has mature features including two islands, reeds, lilies and varying depths. The venue reports numerous carp above 20lb and several above 30lb. Only six anglers may fish the specimen lake at one time, so swims must be booked in advance. The separate pleasure lake was redesigned in 2015 and has larger pegs, easy access and an island, with carp to around 20lb alongside bream, tench, perch, rudd and roach. Free parking and an on-site tackle shop serve both waters.

Gwinear Fishery venue rules

Specimen anglers need a 42-inch landing net, large mat or cradle, stiff-arm weigh sling and carp-care kit, with this equipment dipped before fishing. A maximum of three rods applies there, with barbless or micro-barbed hooks and at least 10lb line. Bait boats, nuts, meat, leadcore and retaining fish are prohibited. The pleasure lake requires barbless hooks and use of the fishery's landing nets, with fish landed rather than swung to hand.
