About Derwent Reservoir
Derwent Reservoir at Waterside Park near Consett is a popular bank fishery with any-method fishing available around the water. It is stocked from the operator's own Teesdale fish farm with rainbow trout, including tagged prize fish, and specimens can reach around 20lb. Coarse anglers target roach, while pike fishing is normally available when water temperatures and fish welfare allow. Fishing runs from 8am to 9pm or sunset, whichever comes first. Permit options include full-day take tickets, sporting catch-and-release for fly and spinning anglers, and coarse or pike tickets. Permits can be bought online, by phone or from the cafe and shop, and an Environment Agency rod licence is required. Parking is included with a fishing permit. Facilities include an accessible platform on the south side of the dam, a tackle shop selling rods, reels, bait and accessories, visitor-centre refreshments and toilets.
