About Blackland Lakes

Heron Lake covers about one acre and varies from roughly four to twelve feet deep; Stan's Lake is around half an acre with depths from four to nine feet. Both waters contain tench, roach, perch, bream, crucian carp, rudd and gudgeon, while Heron also holds mirror carp into the twenties. The lakes have received stock checks, snag removal, water-quality improvements and additional carp. Day fishing runs as a full session, and most swims have room for a bivvy.

Blackland Lakes venue rules

Day fishing is permitted from 8am to 8pm, with one booked swim used for the session. Barbed hooks, fixed ledger rigs, nuts, groundbait and braided main line are prohibited, and anglers are limited to two rods. Children under 17 must be accompanied by an adult. Heron Lake additionally requires at least 10lb main line, an 80cm landing net and a wetted carp mat, and keepnets are not allowed there.
