About Rutland Water North Arm
Rutland Water North Arm is the northern section of Anglian Water's internationally recognised Rutland trout fishery, not a separate standalone venue or permit. The reservoir is divided informally into the North Arm, South Arm and Main Basin, and current fishing reports regularly identify North Arm areas such as Barnsdale Creek, Barnsdale steep bank and Dickensons Bay. Rutland is principally a fly fishery for rainbow and brown trout, with fishing available from both bank and boat. Anglian Water offers day tickets and season permits, including catch-and-release and fish-limit options; bank permits are for fly fishing for trout. Boats and permits can be booked through the fishery, while evening boats are normally available only on the day and subject to availability. Seasonal predator fishing for pike, perch and zander is also offered from boats under method-specific dates and rules. The published 2026 trout season runs from 14 March 2026 to 31 January 2027. Anglers should use the official map and current reports to identify open banks and productive North Arm areas, and must check permits, boat availability, weather restrictions, safety guidance and fishery rules before travelling.
