The lake holds bream, perch, carp and pike and is shared with a busy public park, beach, woodland paths and family attractions. Anglers must use the marked wooden fishing platforms and cannot fish from the beaches, boathouse, bird-feeding area or protected wildlife bank. The statutory close season runs from 15 March to 15 June inclusive, and pike fishing does not begin until 1 October. Boats, fires and barbecues are not permitted, so visitors should read the current notices at the boathouse before setting up.
