Carsington Water is a large Severn Trent reservoir near Ashbourne in Derbyshire. Its long-standing fishing and watersports operator, Carsington Sport and Leisure, ceased trading in December 2025 after 33 years, so the former trout and predator-fishing operation is not currently available. A new leisure operator was announced for cycling and paddlesports in 2026. Severn Trent also said it was arranging a separate lease with a new fishery operator and expected that agreement to be in place by spring 2027. That is an expected timetable rather than a confirmed fishing reopening date. Until a new fishery operator publishes an opening announcement, anglers should not travel expecting permits, boat hire or normal fishing access.
