Big Waters is an approximately 22-acre lake in Big Waters Country Park near Brunswick Village, north of Newcastle upon Tyne. It is one of the principal waters managed by Big Waters Angling Club and is shared with the Northumberland Wildlife Trust and other country park visitors. Fishing is restricted to the eastern end of the lake, while the larger western section forms a nature reserve; anglers must not enter the protected area. The club lists carp, bream, roach, rudd and perch, with occasional eels also caught. Both carp and bream can reach specimen sizes, and bream over 7lb are noted. The exposed position at the bottom of a shallow depression can make the water windswept, so conditions should be considered when planning a session. A sizeable country park car park is reached from the signposted lane near Brunswick Village. The venue page states that there is no close season on this water. Fishing is governed by the club's membership and general angling rules, so prospective visitors should confirm current membership, guest-ticket and access arrangements before travelling.
